Welcome to the Race!

The Purdue evGrandPrix is the ultimate competition for electric kart teams, combining speed, strategy, and innovation. Teams from across the country design, build, and race their karts while competing in technical inspections, practice sessions, sprint qualifiers, and the final championship race.

Whether you’re a returning team or joining for the first time, this section has all the deadlines, schedules, and resources you need to prepare for an exciting season on the track.

Race Overview

The evGrandPrix is Purdue’s premier collegiate electric kart racing event. Teams compete in multiple events, including design, efficiency, and sprint races. The Championship Breakdown is as follows:

  • 50% Race Position

  • 30% Design

  • 20% Efficiency

Registration Deadlines

November 1 – November 30

Early Registration Open ($350/kart)

Full payment must be received by Nov. 30 (11:59pm) to qualify for early registration discount. Payments not received will default to regular registration pricing.

December 1 – December 31

Regular Registration Open ($450/kart)

Teams must register by 12/31 to compete in the 2026 evGrandPrix.

Full payment must be received by March 15, 2026 (11:59pm). Partial payments will not be refunded.

Key Submission Deadlines

    • Design reports must be submitted through the form link to earn Design Event points.

  • PTIR Review Meetings (Window #1)

    2/9/2026 - 2/20/2026

    ALL teams must sign up for a meeting to complete a virtual review with a technical inspector to review their battery selection and/or battery designs.

  • PTIR Review Meeting Window #2/“Office Hours”

    3/2/2026- 3/27/2026

    Teams will have a second opportunity to meet with technical inspectors (optional for some, required for others as per each team’s February meeting)

  • Design Report Submission Deadline

    Design reports must be submitted through the form link by this date to be considered for Design Event points

  • Tech inspection #1/Practice #1

    4/9/2026

    1:00 - 8:00 PM: Technical inspection (sign up for slots).

    6:00 - 8:00 PM: Practice (for karts that have passed Technical Inspection)

    Note: ALL CLASS III BATTERIES will be inspected in their own dedicated window this year. If your battery does not pass, you must return to another window to enter the track.

  • Practice #2

    4/11/2026 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM

    Practice (for karts that have passed Technical Inspection). 

    Note: if the number of karts eligible and available to test is not substantial, practice may be cancelled.

  • Tech inspection #2/Practice #3

    4/16/2026

    1:00 - 8:00 PM: Technical inspection (sign up for slots).

    6:00 - 8:00 PM: Practice (for karts that have passed Technical Inspection)

  • LAST CHANCE TECH + Practice #4/Qualifying

    3:00 - 5:00 PM: Technical inspection (by appointment ONLY. Technical inspectors will have scheduled this for you. If you fail technical inspection on this day, you WILL NOT be permitted to participate on 4/18.)

    6:00 - 7:30 PM: Sprint Race Qualifiers

Participating Team Requirements

  • Liability Release For All Participants

    Each participant must bring a signed form to on-site registration when the team first checks in for the event.  Each participant will receive a pit pass (wrist band).

  • Technical Inspection Form For Each Kart

    The Crew Chief is to bring the completed form with the kart to Technical Inspection. Technical Inspection will not begin until all above forms are submitted and accepted.

  • Driver Safety Presentation

    All drivers must watch this presentation before driving in their first evGP event of the season (school year).

  • Driver's Test

    All drivers must pass this test before driving in their first evGP event of the season. The test only needs to be passed one time per season (school year).

  • Track Worker

    Each team (kart) is required to have a track worker wearing a safety vest every time it is on track (Recommended safety vest)
